Clinton Township's Environmental Commission has instated a Significant Tree Registry program.  The purpose of the Significant Tree Registry is to recognize and protect unique trees located within Clinton Township.  We are looking for residents to nominate trees to be recognized within the Significant Tree Registry.  We are also looking for trees within Clinton Township that you may pass everyday on your commute or a tree in Clinton Township that has an interesting story in it's history.  We would like to recognize trees of significance within the township, whether on public or private property. We are seeking to locate trees which are rare, unusually large or old, related to historical individuals or events, have established importance to a neighborhood, or other special qualities which make it significant to our community.

To nominate a tree, please complete and submit the Significant Tree Registration Form

Tree Identification

Trees capture our imagination for their size and strength, however, there's more to a champion than just its size—they are symbols of all the good work trees do for the quality of the environment and our quality of life.  Big trees provide more cooling shade and more places for wildlife to perch and nest.  They sequester more carbon dioxide, trap more pollutants, and purify more water.

Although most trees can outlive us - 100 to 200 years is not unusual - they succumb to age, disease and insects, wind, rain, and drought.  And now, all too often, to the chainsaw buzz of development.  All trees work hard to improve our environment.  It's our responsibility to maintain a healthy environment that allows trees to grow to champion status.
